CF-L2 TRAINER

When my husband Craig first found CrossFit I thought he’d gone nuts on some new extreme fitness trend. But after our daughter was born I needed a change so I finally caved and tried CrossFit. I was first humbled by admitting that CrossFit’s diet prescription made sense. My next breakthrough came after admitting that I had platued with my previous workout program and the hours of exercise I was doing weren't getting me any closer to my fitness goals. I was bored and needed a new challenge. At that point I fully embraced CrossFit. I will forever be grateful to my husband for introducing CrossFit to our family.

I grew up in a family of distance runners and have an extensive background in dance. After my daughter was born I became involved in prenatal and postnatal fitness and eventually became a certified prenatal and postnatal fitness instructor. In my professional life I've been an Elementary School Teacher, a PE teacher, and a stay at home mom. I have particular interest in the benefits of nutrition and what we do with the other 23 hours a day that either helps or hinders the one hour we get to spend in the gym. I find great fulfillment in working with others to help them understand their bodies and how to use them in optimal ways. It is truly rewarding to see someone grasp and apply concepts in areas that had been holding them back.

CRAIG

CF-L2 TRAINER

I’ve been practicing CrossFit since found the mainsite back in 2004. Like many people I stumbled upon CrossFit while searching for ways to improve my health and physical fitness. What began as a chance encounter via the web turned into a fascination with functional movement, general physical preparedness, and training for success at the unknown and unknowable challenges that life can present. This fascination has grown into a lifestyle that I'm stoked to share with the local community.

SEAN

CF-L1 TRAINER

Hi everyone I’m Sean! I started doing Crossfit in 2013 after finding the normal workout routine to be boringly monotonous. I did my L1 in October of 2014. I love the community at Calapooia CrossFit and Crossfit as a whole. I am privileged to be able to teach people how to move well to benefit their day to day life.

ANNA

CF-L1 TRAINER

I began CrossFit in 2009 and became L1 certified in 2011. Prior to CrossFit I was never athletic but dabbled in weightlifting during high school. Prior to CrossFit I was out of shape, 250+ pounds, and a smoker. I also had a strong desire to work in law enforcement but knew I could not pass the required physicals associated. This is where CrossFit entered my life through my former sister-in-law who coached at the local box. I tried it and remember that day like it happened yesterday. It was the day my life was set on a different and remarkable path. One year later I had found myself in love with all things CrossFit. I have maintained a significant weight loss over the years through smart whole foods and CrossFit. I have been smoke free 9 years and am in the best shape of my life. I have made some of my best and most valuable friendships through CrossFit. I met my husband Jeremy because of CrossFit. I have coached CrossFit in a variety of environments and to athletes with different special needs.

Now, almost 10 years later my husband and I have become CrossFit gym owners through a gracious and remarkable friendships made at Calapooia CrossFit. We have two small children and are excited to raise them in the supportive and family focused environment of Calapooia CrossFit.

MIKE

CF-L1 TRAINER

Hey, my name's Mike. I started CrossFit about 4 years ago after my wife Lisa had already been doing it for a while. I immediately knew it was the best workout routine for me. As a firefighter, it's the perfect way to keep myself fit for the job. I love the semi competitive nature of it and the community at the gym. After a couple years, Lisa and I went and got our CF-L1 to take the next step and start coaching. I hope to continue doing CrossFit for many years to keep myself active and fit

LISA

CF-L1 TRAINER

I started CrossFit in 2014 when I recognized I needed to incorporate strength training into my life. My husband and I had purchased new furniture and when I couldn't help move the couch into the house, I realized I needed something else. I had been long distance running for years, marathons and half-marathons, but had never really done any weight training. I started CrossFit really out of frustration for not being able to do something, but didn't really know what I was getting myself into. I got myself into the best shape of my life, a community that is like family, healthy workout date nights and so much more. To say CrossFit has impacted my life is an understatement. It is part of my routine not only for my physical health but for my mental health as well.

My husband and I got our CF-L1 certification together in 2017. I love being able to help people recognize the things they can do, that they never thought possible. A teacher at heart, encouraging people to stretch themselves, and show them what they are capable of is what I'm all about.

JEREMY

CF-L1 TRAINER

Hello, I was introduced to CrossFit back in 2011 by my, now, wife Anna. My interest in her and my interest in human performance paired nicely as I realized what an incredible approach CrossFit was. CrossFit brought so much to fitness that didn't exist prior. I quickly realized that CrossFit was so much more than I had ignorantly believed. The movements were safe, efficient, and effective.

I have always been interested in human performance, I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University in Exercise and Sport Science/Fitness Program Management. I played football for Oregon State, and initially planned to be a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the college level. Through ongoing self-education, great coaches, and CrossFit, I have learned more about the human body and performance than I did in five years of "higher education" and Division I Strength and Conditioning.

I have found CrossFit to be very humbling. The daily WODs don't care what you are or were good at. There is always something to get better at. The ability to scale any workout ensures that you get the work you need to get better, there is no hiding behind the limitations we all set for ourselves. It is hard on your pride to not be good at something, especially if you believe you were once a "good" athlete. To be honest, I have struggled with consistently exposing myself to potential failure. But every time I come back to CrossFit, it's waiting for me. Waiting to make me feel better, waiting to challenge me, and there is always a community waiting to cheer me on. My struggles with CrossFit have been all self-imposed. The most valuable take-away is go to class no matter how you feel. I have yet to meet anyone, myself included, that regretted coming to a CrossFit class.
